I'm doing some GeoCities rescues, and I'm not sure how much it's appropriate to copy from the original site. Here's the original site: http://www.geocities.com/betareadg/index.html, and here's the fanlore article: http://fanlore.org/wiki/BetaReadG.

I have basically just copied over the indexes for articles/character essays. I haven't put in citations yet, which I need to do, but should I paraphrase it more? The site is about to disappear of course, so I'd like to give a good idea of what it was like, but I'm not sure how much is too much.

Driving by quick but--random thoughts: could screencaps be your friend for info you don't want to transcribe? Or could author interviews, character essays, etc/ be subpages, i.e. BetaReadG/Holly Quinn Interview or BetaReadG/article on X by Y, BetaReadG/essay? That's what I'd do myself, that way people could get more depth if they wanted. (I'd also be clear that the subpage was a transcript of the resource page, "This page contains information originally published at" or "this essay written by" etc.) Also prolly screencaps are a good thing so that there's an "unbroken" original for comparison!

That being said, I'm commenting here just as another Fanlore contributor. THAT being said, I think its better to save more and worry about structure later. Gardeners, any thoughts?

Is this site waybacked? I think you can put a link to the original site if it is. Here is one: http://web.archive.org/web/20080527024851/www.geocities.com/betareadg/sitemap.html I have not checked every link but it looks pretty good and will give the reader a feel for what was there and how it looked.
