We’ve reached the end of our unofficial “Pros On Fanlore” week. Here is a quick run-down of the work the volunteers completed these past few days:
On the Pros History timeline
*changed all of the citations into footnoted references to make the page easier to read.
*worked on adding additional perspectives on the history of the circuit library along with other events from the 1990s.
*filled in more recent history (2009-2011)
Note: The timeline needs more non-LJ events for recent years. And overall, we need more international content – right now the page is mainly US and UK with a smidge of Australia.
In other areas:
*Volunteers set up the Pros Fanfiction category and started by listing a few favorite stories. There still are many classic Pros stories that need to be documented. And of course, we need a healthy dose of more recent (post 2000) fiction. One idea a volunteer suggested is that if you’ve ever done a review or a rec of a Pros story in a zine, newsletter, mailing list, LJ community or your blog, you can start by adding that story, along with your review/rec.
*Set up stubs for several of the Pros LJ communities – but that’s all they are right now. Here is the one for teanandswissroll. It looks so sad, so empty. Here’s an example of an LJ community that has been completed. Pretty.
*Volunteers set up a category for Pros fan vids. As above, we need more entries on both older and more recent fanvids. To help jog your memory on older vids you can look here or here
*Added a link to krisserci5’s and friends detective work uncovering the earliest Pros slash stories.
On a personal note: last year I set up memorial pages for both long-time Pros fans Lily Fulford and Joan Martin – if you knew them, please head over to their pages and add your condolences and memories. Additional memorial pages for many other fans can be found here
So that’s the summary for the unofficial "Pros Week on Fanlore." And while some of the volunteers will be moving on to other fandoms, we hope the community will keep adding more content. Remember, Fanlore is a wiki which means it is open to join and editable by any and all fans and supports plural points of view. So grab your Pros memories, your Pros favorites, and your love of this fandom and its fabulous history and head over to Fanlore.
