Challenge: Doctor Who!

Who's been watching the new season of Doctor Who? I've been pleased, and maybe a little surprised, at how much I've been enjoying Matt Smith's take on the Doctor. I'm sure it doesn't hurt that I'm a bit of a sucker for tweed and bow ties. :)

So I checked out the Doctor Who pages on Fanlore and for a fandom that's been around since the 60's and has had such a massive popular resurgence, those pages need a lot of fleshing out! Go check it out. The online fandom and fanfic subpages are crying for details. What about the Rose wars? How about Donna? We have a pattern for knitting the scarf, but not one for knitting the adipose that was so popular at the art auction at Con.txt a couple of years ago. Any notable vids? How did the tone of the fanfic change while the 10th Doctor was in the midst of his downward spiral of manpain?

There's lot we can do with these pages, both Old School Who fans and New Who fans alike, so let's play with this for a couple of weeks. Pick an area that strikes your fancy and have at it! :)

If you tag this post with doctor who, it would show up under the latest feed page Doctor Who tag. (I think it will work if you do it after the fact--worth a shot anyway, that's the biggest tag in the cloud right now.

Adipose--oh my goodness, that's a fascinating story, complete with C&D email to one of the knitters.

I put some stuff on the main page about it, but I have a structure question: http://fanlore.org/wiki/Talk:Doctor_Who

I restructured some of the pages, adding TOCs and headings so folks can add content more easily. The online fandom page needs cites and contains some very not PPOV statements. I don't really know Who fandom though, I'm only a show fan.

Other suggestions for content--and I may get to some of these myself:

* Matt Smith says he wrote fanfic to prepare for role
* write up copperbadge's rewatch meta and link to it--I put a link on the talk page already.
* Do we want a list page of all the companions? Yes it's canon information, but it seemed to work for Merlin as a linking page to character pages and a way to put in brief blurbs about other characters and where they fit in fanworks.
* journal communities for the fandom

Given that the main page is defining the offline fandom as the physical manifestations of the fandom, I would assume all of the craft info (and probably a chunk of the art) would go there. It's an interesting division--I'm more of a timeline girl, myself. Is the watercolor portrait of 10 that you did an offline part of the fandom? But if you scanned it in and posted it to a community, is it online now?

Following this along, though, I suppose conventions are offline? Vids are online? Fanfic and Fanzines have their own subpages, which is good, because they could go either way. *g*
