Adding footnote display code to templates

I note we're using  footnotes more and more (or rather we're preferring to use footnotes more and more).  I think it may be helpful to add the "Reference" display code to a few of the templates that seem to generate pages with a lot of footnotes. That way there will need to be fewer key strokes, open tabs and copy and pasting.  And if there are no footnotes when the page is set up, then the code just hangs there at the bottom of the page until it is needed. I know I am more likely to add a footnote if I don't have to navigate to the cheatsheet to track down the Reference code first. 

Thoughts?

I am in favor of this. Last time I was the first to add footnotes to a page I spent something like 15 minutes figuring out what I was doing wrong and eventually had to look at another page and see what was different.

We'll still have to manually type in
< ref > textexttextexttextexttextexttextexttextext < /ref >
for each footnote.

But having the Footnote 'References' display code built into a template is one less thing to mess up.

When I mess up the footnotes it usually is because < ref > or < /ref > is missing or I've made a typo like <ref?

I love this. Can anyone set one up? We could use one for the fanvids and fanfic projects we're working on this month.

We have one for pairings: Help:Pairing_pages/Template, I just added a link to it to the template page. The same for fanfic and vids would be great. (I could take a stab at this sometime next week, but if someone else wants to do it even better.)

I am making one for FanFic Template - again we still have to do the whole < ref > and < / ref> thingie (is there a technical word for this?) but it should help streamline entries.

BTW, we miss you on Fanlore (I know, I know it's only been a month).

Yay more templates! Er, technical term, um, "Citation Formatting"? "Citation Format Formatting"? "Citation Formatting Coding and Format"? Or more informally, maybe, "Fanlore Editors' Riffs on Reffing (soon to be requested as a filk in Return of the Remix Requests)"? ;)

I've been missing fl & the gang! But despite distractions I'll be back (I hope sooner rather than later) running around and poking away. :)
