That is a good question! It was set up that way by our previous committee chair (... who I do not recall which name she was using there so vagueness so as not to out) who brought quite a bit of wiki experience, so I presume there was a reason, but I am really not sure what it might be.
I think I can remove myself from bot, though, and see what I suddenly can't do.
