Copyrighted images

I'm not sure RPF fandoms would have more problems than other media fandoms because there is no definition anywhere what you mean when you say "copyrighted images":

We also ask that if you upload a copyrighted image without permission of the creator, that you include the following disclaimer text (called a "copyright tag") on the image page as part of the image description:

"This image is a [describe what the image is, e.g., a screenshot, a scan of a fanzine cover, a photo] from [source where you obtained the image, such as a URL---see the discussion of what constitutes a "good source" description below], and the copyright for it is owned by [name the copyright holder here]. We believe that the use of a limited number of web-resolution images qualifies as fair use under United States copyright law."

To me that means I can't upload any icons, wallpapers, manips and other photo art because I don't know where the original images came from. Is a photo of two people at some event no longer copyrighted content when someone made it look like they are kissing? Is adding a few words to a 100x100px copyrighted image enough so that I no longer need copyright information? What do I do with a wallpaper where someone combined three or four copyrighted images? What with an archive banner with just the archive name added to a photo that was taken by some photographer ten years ago? I'm just saying that requiring copyright information makes things a lot more complicated than it needs to be. Even more so for RPS where there are often pictures that are freely shared by everyone but no one really knows who made them in the first place.
