You raise a good point about the desirability of neutral descriptive terms (and yes, I think you're right that this can be difficult; we all have strong feelings about the things we love, that's what makes us fans, right?) And I appreciate the reminders, from you and from others in this thread, about the ways in which the terms we use can reinscribe imperialism in ways we didn't intend.
