1968 is not distant enough to the extent that we can reasonably expect people photographed then to be dead. Who benefits from publicizing the exact identities of fans, weighed against the possibility that a photo outs someone whose life is complicated by that outing? If people in their 60's don't talk about their college fannishness, they have their reasons, and Fanlore should respect them.
Reposting a photo that's already publicly available in a new context is only value-neutral when the new context is value-neutral, which Fanlore is not, no matter how it might wish to be.
