We've posted the Fandoms as Category policy change to the policies section of Fanlore. We'd like to open it up for comment. You can find it here.

We, the wiki committee, don't work in a vacuum and would like your input on this. If possible, We'd like to have the discussion here on Dreamwidth. It's easy to answer questions and respond to comments. If discussion becomes unwieldy, we can schedule a chat in the Fanlore chat room.

This is only the first of several policies we're working on and are planning to put out for comment in the next few months. So, let us know what you think.

Actually, you're making a lot of sense with Buffy/Angel. They aren't any further apart than TOS, TNG and ENT which would come under the same heading, but are not any more closely related.

Though, I have to say that I don't want to call the fandom category Jossverse since Firefly is also a Jossverse. What would you call it?

I would call it "Buffy" or "Buffyverse" (although Buffyverse is more canon-oriented). We could go with "Buffy and Angel" to be inclusive, but to be consistent with Star Trek we can just choose the name of the first series.

And speaking of spin-off difficulties, we may need something similar for Doctor Who, Torchwood, Sarah Jane Adventures, and associated media (haven't a clue about fanac for extended universe stuff, though): Whoniverse category? Just "Doctor Who"? Torchwood is the Angel to Who's Buffy, in more ways than one...
