I started a page on The MsScribe Story. Anyone remember this and want to jump in? I found a few links, but just rereading the original document may take me all summer...
Good luck, but man, as someone from the HP fandom at the time (and who met msscribe in person at one point) - damn, that still even hurts to talk about. I hope someone who isn't so personally involved can document it well, and maybe that person is you...
I think it will take rereading the original document. Anyone who remembers this is mainly going to remember that they had no freakin' clue what was going on most of the time.
At the very least, it's probably worth mentioning which HP BNFS MsScribe was supposedly trying to befriend. It was still a pretty big fandom, even considering the overwhelming BNF-iness of some BNFs.

There's so much fantastically weird HP wank from around that time; I wouldn't even know where to start! At the time, it seemed (to me) like this exposé was the culmination of three or four years of unusually vicious and/or bizarre developments in HP fandom (not all of them related to MsScribe even if you take the most speculative parts of the exposé as absolute fact).
