What the Wiki Committee did in October

We are close to finishing the mediawiki upgrade - no, really this time! It is scheduled for the middle of November. A more detailed explanation about the upcoming changes will be posted soon.

Our twitter account was briefly hacked to send spam messages to people. Sorry about that, and thanks to everyone who alerted us to the problem. We have taken steps to be able to react quicker in the future.

We are sad to report that Shannon and Tuulia left the Wiki committee, and we hope to one day see them on RecentChanges again.

Any sentence that contains the word "upgrade" always fills me up with dread (and not in the fun, dirty Karl Urban way... And omg I can't believe I actually typed that up)

All upgrades tend to make my life more difficult. I hate changes... :( but I assume this upgrade is supposed to be good and useful. I'll hide over there untill it becomes familiar.

The idea is that upgrades make life more difficult for a while (or a long while...) and easier after that, but yes, that´s far from reliable - we´ll hope and see!

When I type www.fanlore.org in my browser nothing displays, the site now only shows with just fanlore.org as URL. That isn't good, IMO. At first I thought the wiki was down.

Thanks for alerting us! Can you check if you still have that problem? And if yes, which browser are you using?

Yes, I still have this problem. I use Firefox 16.0.2.

Forwarding a question from Systems: which page do you get when you try to load it?

It resolved itself for me now, and redirects me from www.fanlore.org to just fanlore.org, but before I didn't get any kind of page. Nothing showed, just a blank white page.

I have that problem once again. www.fanlore.org gives me a blank page, even though fanlore.org loads. :(

For me too, it probably works again now. We had the same problem before: usually it works, sometimes it doesn't for a few hours or days and then it works again. I'm not a tech person and have no idea how to track it down.

nope, not yet working. I wouldn't mind so much if my browser didn't autocomplete www's when you type URLs...

Systems can´t reproduce the error. Can I give them your email address so that they can contact you directly to try and figure out where the problem is?
