Can there be a live practice page? 

Seeded with a lot of the usual things, templates, links, cites, and then people can try out editing and formating and get comfortable.

Sort of like the Wikipedia sandbox, you mean? That would entail setting up a bot to clean it every X hours, I guess. *muses*

If there was a live learning page, it would automatically have a talk page too, where people could ask for help and get answers.

Perhaps have some gardeners assigned to tend the learning plot rather than a bot?

I think that's brilliant. With CLEAR instructions as to how to reverse the changes, so people can start over again if they want to. It'd be even better if it got excluded from the namespace that shows up on the usual tracking lists, but IDK how you'd do that...

I have no clue either, but it could very well be a place for new people to learn, and the existing people could move from doing to teaching.
