It's the fourth week of Stub September!

Thank you again to everyone who has participated thus far. We had some great contributions last week to relationships such as Ziam, Clark Kent/Lois Lane, Tim Drake/Cassandra Cain, Lily/Hugo, and even Frollo & Gaston!

The theme this week is fan communities!

This includes websites, forums, mailing lists, and other fan spaces. Some examples of fan community pages that are currently stubs include:

New editor? See the Intro to Fanlore FAQ, Help:Editing pages, and the formatting cheatsheet for the basics of wiki editing.

Here are some ideas to get you started:

  • What is the community's history? Why was it started? How has it changed over time?

  • When was the community most active? Who runs/moderates it?

  • What kind of fans is the community for? What kind of reputation does it have for those outside the community?

  • Were there any notable events, controversies, or wanks involving the community?

  • Is it known for being home to a particular fan, fanwork, or type of fan?

  • Does it have any relationship (conflicts, affiliation) with other communities in the fandom? Are there similar/related communities?

There are various templates and infoboxes for different kinds of communities that you may find useful, but it is not necessary to follow their structure.

You can find all articles about fan community on Fanlore by browsing the Fan Communities category and its subcategories.

You can search within the Stubs category (or any other category) using the "incategory:" parameter.

If you include the term "incategory:Stubs" in your search (i.e., in the search bar at the top-right of any Fanlore page), it will only bring up pages from Category:Stubs. For example, you can search "character incategory:Stubs" to find all stubs that contain the word "character" (note that this is not only character pages).

Alternatively, you can search within another category for the term "stub". For example, "stub incategory:DC_Comics_Characters" finds stubs in Category:DC Comics Characters (note that underscores are required for multiple-word categories).

See Help:Searching for more information.

Check back next week for a new theme! If you have any questions, feel free to comment on this post or to email the Fanlore Gardeners. We also would love to hear about your contributions to the challenge so far in the comments below. Happy editing!
