Fanlore's MediaWiki upgrade is complete!

Fanlore's upgrade to MediaWiki version 1.26.2 has been successfully completed!

As described in our last post, you will see some aesthetic and functional changes to Fanlore with this new update.

We have also deployed three new MediaWiki extensions: Disambiguator, MobileFrontend, and Thanks. More information about these new features will be posted soon. We are also still looking into the VisualEditor extension, and will be inviting the Fanlore Gardeners to help with testing and feedback before the feature goes live.

Please let us know if you experience any problems with the upgraded site, either in the comments below or via our contact form. We are already aware of and investigating a few small formatting and behavioral bugs, and we will have updates for you soon.

Woot! One question about the mobile extension. When I visited the site on my phone, the mobile version did not engage. I finally found the link in teeeeny print at the very bottom of the page. If I didn't know it was there I would never have found it. There may be an extension for auto-detect: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:MobileDetect

but in the interim, can we add an additional Mobile link in big bold letters higher on the front page?

I've noticed a couple of issues. Perhaps they are on the radar already?

A problem with apostrophes? I noticed that "Blake's 7" is now a red link. An example: http://fanlore.org/wiki/Liberator

Could we make “track changes” not the default?

The sizes of images that are not in galleries are too large. Can we bump them all down?

I think that toolbox bar thing at the top of talk pages is gone. When I went to sign a comment, I ended up hand typing the four squiggles.

Since the upgrade, it isn't obvious how to do an advanced search. Not that it was obvious before, but it was semi-guessable. Even if new people are aware that it is doable (debatable) it isn't exactly obvious where such instructions are hidden. It took me a good few minutes to find them myself.

So how about an obvious advanced search link on the initial page?
