From Mrs. Potato Head:

I've pretty much dived in to Fanlore a few days ago and have been adding fanzines and their contents. I really, really hope I'm doing it right.

Is there a page that lays out how things are to be referred to? Example: multi-fandom/multimedia/multi-media? Or for fandoms: Man from U.N.C.L.E./Man From U.N.C.L.E./The Man from...? How about including "the" and "a" in fandoms and zine titles: The A-Team/A-Team? Is there a way to correct a page heading after one's searched it, and used the link to make a new page only to discover too late that not capitalizing correctly in a search or not using an exclamation point makes it look like two different entries? Is there a masterlist of authors and people who I can use full names before 1995? Is there a couple of "ideal" pages I can use as models?

I've got lots of questions and don't know who to ask!

I'm not aware of any style guide (not that I'm an expert). My advice would be: don't sweat it! It's easy to move things and add redirects later if necessary.

Yes, you can absolutely get page titles and the links to them changed. I think gardeners (love that term) have to do it, but if you take a stroll through the recent changes log, (http://fanlore.org/wiki/Special:Recentchanges) you'll see lots of industrious people that can and do quickly fix things if the page title style needs a fix.

http://fanlore.org/wiki/Newsletter/Newsletter_Communities is a great page to go to if you're starting a new fandom page. Lots of the fandoms there are links to wiki pages that don't exist yet. If you click on it, the wiki will ask you if you want to make the page. When you do it that way, it's already linked in somewhere and the page starts out with the templates already there for you.

I used a couple of big popular fandom pages as guides when I made the Leverage page. Reading the talk pages helps too, to get a feel for what wheels have already been invented and the general consensus on style issues.

Never fear making mistakes, people will come and fix them, and add to your pages, it's the best part of fanlore.

I'd just like to say that I really wish there were such guidelines and style sheets. Thanks for bringing it up.

an article, or in some way (probably on the Talk page) say that you think it's a good example of its kind, and a good candidate for being a template for similar articles...
